Atento Hiring More Call Center Workers in Guatemala

August 13, 2014

While the call center business in the United States is booming, the U.S. is hardly the only country in the world that is getting more jobs every day. In Guatemala, a company named Atento just announced that it wants to create around 1,200 new jobs by the end of the year. The firm already has nearly 2,000 jobs in the country. It also already has a couple of other call centers in the country. This new call center will make Atento one of the biggest call center employers, if not the biggest in Guatemala.

“When Atento first considered breaking into the United States market, we decided that Guatemala was the best place to set up,” stated Atento CEO, Alejandro Reynal, in a recent statement.  “We have an excellent infrastructure and have invested heavily in new technology and procedures.  We also have the human resources needed to provide the United States with the high quality service they are looking for.”

This is hardly the first call center company in Latin America. Santo Domingo is one country that is coming into its own. That area is seeing more than 5,000 new call center jobs coming in by the end of 2015. In total, Perez said that there will be about 35,000 cell center jobs in the area by the end of the year. The president also said that his administration is working hard to attract people in this particular sector with the end goal being a jump in call center employees to more than 100,000.

The administration has said that these new jobs will go a long way in helping to fight poverty and turn away problems the country has fought such as child malnutrition and other issues.
