EMC Considering Johannesburg Call Center

August 26, 2013

Call centers in the 21st century are working hard to change the way they do business. While the bottom line used to be that call centers would need to get through as many clients as possible, customer happiness is a much bigger concern these days. Most call centers tend to rely on some kind of informational backdrop with generic questions and comments about a topic. EMC has announced they are looking at launching a call center that will focus on helping customers get experience and information as it relates to big data in the Johannesburg, South Africa region.

EMC has already launched several service and contact centers in countries in the Middle East and Africa, including Egypt. The contact centers are built to help customers of EMC deal with technology and infrastructure issues. The company believes that a new center in Johannesburg could be a big step in the company’s black economic empowerment programs. While there have been rumblings that this new call center could be opened soon, EMC says it is still weighing whether they will officially make that move.

In a recent release, the company said that it is also debating building call centers in Namibia and Mozambique. Whether those would be in addition to Johannesburg or instead of it was not clear. Among the services that EMC provides are cloud computing, security and big data solutions and services.

EMC country manager for Southern Africa Servaas Venter says that there has been a truly significant growth in the demand for big data solutions as more companies in the area realize the benefit of these kinds of solutions. The rise in the use of the solutions means that there are more customer contacts needed.
