Interactive Intelligence Reports First Quarter Results

Interactive Intelligence, a global provider of unified IP business communications solutions, announced today its operating results for the three months ended March 31, 2009.

The company reported revenues of $29.5 million, equal to the revenues for the first quarter of 2008.

Currently, Interactive Intelligence (News - Alert) is set to begin its “Innovate & Transform” roadshow series in Australia and New Zealand tomorrow. Those who attend can learn about the company's product solution roadmap and see demonstrations of its Unified Communications (News - Alert) solutions.

In regards to Interactive Intelligence’s financial report, company founder and CEO, Dr. Donald E. Brown said, “Although product revenues were a challenge in the first quarter of 2009, we had a number of positive outcomes. Our services revenues, including communications-as-a-service and managed services, showed strong growth and non-GAAP operating income was up 30 percent. Cash and investments increased nicely to nearly $50 million.”

Cash and investment balances as of March 31, 2009 totaled $49.8 million with no debt.

“Despite the cautious buying market, our performance enables continued focus on the long-term initiatives of our company, including the development and launch of our process automation solution, and further expansion of our services business,” added Brown.

Gary Blough, executive vice president worldwide, Interactive Intelligence, Rachel Wentink (News - Alert), senior director of product management, Interactive Intelligence, and
Brendan Maree, country manager A/NZ and Pacific, Interactive Intelligence are all scheduled to speak at the roadshow.

"Participants will enjoy a tailored, high-impact program with peer-to-peer interaction and expert speakers exploring the subject of Unified Communications, a subject on the minds of contact centre and business professionals today," said Constantine Nicholas, marketing manager A/NZ, Interactive Intelligence.

Nicholas added, "In addition, the event will showcase how companies are finding innovative ways to leverage business communications solutions as one of their strongest assets, allowing them to set their sights on the future and build a strong foundation."

As part of the roadshow free lunch seminars are being staged in the following cities, Tuesday April 28 – Sydney, Wednesday April 29 – Adelaide, Thursday April 30 – Melbourne and Monday May 4 – Auckland.

Additional first quarter operating results announced today include, consistent gross margins of 69 percent for 2009 and 2008, GAAP operating income of $2.3 million in 2009, compared to $1.5 million in 2008, non-GAAP operating income of $3.1 million in 2009, compared to $2.4 million in 2008, interest income of $108,000 in 2009, compared to $459,000 in 2008, other expense principally related to foreign exchange losses on receivables of $298,000 in 2009, compared to a gain of $97,000 in 2008 and cash flows from operations of $4.4 million in 2009, compared to $5.3 million in 2008.
