Interactive Intelligence Launches New Audio Conferencing Solution

August 20, 2009

Following on a strong second quarter, Interactive Intelligence, a global provider of unified IP business communications solutions, has released Interaction Conference 3.0, adding call scheduling, recording and reporting to its audio conferencing capabilities.

According to company officials, Indianapolis, Ind.-based Interactive Intelligence designed Interaction Conference to “reduce costs, improve flexibility and increase ease-of-use associated with conference calling.”

“Interaction Conference eliminates the need for outsourced conferencing services, while giving organizations added flexibility in creating conference calls of any size,” said Interactive Intelligence Founder and CEO, Dr. Donald E. Brown. “The benefits of this include the elimination of per-minute charges, the convenience of scheduling conference calls 24/7, and simplified use through the automatic generation of bridge numbers and PINs from within an Outlook meeting request.”

Brown will deliver a keynote address to attendees of ITEXPO West 2009 in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sept.2, at 3:30 p.m. titled “Business Takeover: The Day Your Phone System Runs Your Business.”

Interaction Conference is built on top of the Interactive Intelligence IP business communications platform, company officials said, and can be used as a standalone conferencing product, or with the company’s all-in-one IP communications software suite.

Interaction Conference allows users to schedule and record one-time or recurring conference calls without any specialty hardware, software or integration. The company claims it gives users “complete” participant control, including putting participants on hold and muting and disconnecting them. Interaction Conference includes a free Microsoft Outlook plug-in so conference calls can be scheduled from within an Outlook meeting request. Conference numbers and PINs are automatically generated and sent along with the invitations.

“In this economy especially, our customers are seeking ways to drive costs out of their operations. Interaction Conference helps them accomplish this by eliminating costs associated with third-party conferencing services and gives customers maximum flexibility by enabling them to use either a Web interface for conference call set-up and administration, or simply create a conference call automatically from within a Microsoft Outlook meeting request,” explained Mark Kowal, product marketing manager of Interactive Intelligence. “Interaction Conference delivers these benefits along with incremental scalability making it ideal for SMB’s and large enterprises alike.”

For conference administrators, the Interaction Conference monitoring interface shows all conferences in progress, as well as the number of resources used and available. Browser-based administration enables users to generate reports for billing to departments, groups and individuals.

Interaction Conference is priced based on a single server license. It offers unlimited scalability based on number of ports. Company officials said the product is ideal for mid-size to large organizations, including those with mobile users, remote sites, and global operations.

Interaction Conference is available through the company’s channel of approximately 300 resellers worldwide.

In a strong sign that the business communications marketplace is growing as the downturn that had begun last year is bottoming out, Interactive Intelligence reported last month that its revenues grew 7.5 percent to $32.9 million for the second quarter of 2009, up from $30.6 million in the year-ago quarter. These results have situated the firm to boost its revenues into 2010.
