Star Trac Selects Oracle for Global Systems Overhaul and Automation

Oracle (News - Alert) Corporation has announced that Star Trac selected its management applications for customer relationship, finance, supply chain and human capital, over stiff competition from SAP AktienGesellschaft (AG) and Microsoft (News - Alert) Corporation.
"With Oracle we can continue to embrace our innovative culture by leveraging best of breed technologies without having to be in the business of software integration," said Jeff Kuckenbaker, VP of Information Systems and Technology, Star Trac.
The company deals in physical fitness, cardio conditioning and weight training equipment, and its products have become so popular across the globe that more than 4 million health conscious people in at least 75 countries currently use them. Market feed-back indicates that the numbers will continue growing.
Its accelerated growth has also been fuelled by the acquisition of several companies, which in totality has resulted in inheriting different work methods for classifications such as invoicing, goods inwards, dispatch, HR, vendor control, purchase, logistics, finance, marketing, sales and customer relationship.
Since none of its systems are fully compatible with each other, it adds to the complexity in synchronizing and synthesizing information that now reside in separate silos. After careful reviews of the available Enterprise Resource Planning solutions from the three competing vendors, Star Trac selected Oracle’s ERP management suite.
"After an extensive evaluation, Oracle proved to be the best company suited to our business challenges, the best technology footprint to meet our growing global needs and, undoubtedly, the best of breed in the industry," said Kuckenbaker.
Star Trac officials say that the solution is aligned with its growth roadmap and milestones, and the key objectives are to implement a global ERP system, automate financial, supply chain, and service procedures, replace all existing and diverse systems, and build-in warranty related alerts to safeguard against possible legal churn.
"Star Trac's selection of Oracle is based on our success delivering solutions that simplify IT and accelerate ROI," said Edward Abbo, Senior Vice President of Application Development, Oracle.
Oracle officials say that an important reason for its ERP solution selection was its proven Oracle Business Accelerators that guarantee expedited business flow, are lightweight, and significantly reduce time and cost of implementation and ownership.
"Products that Star Trac will deploy such as Oracle CRM On Demand, Oracle Business Accelerators and Oracle User Productivity Kit, significantly reduce the time it takes to deploy and gain benefits from enterprise applications. We look forward to working with Star Trac on their projects."
