Videotron's New Client Contact Center in Joliette Creates 271 Jobs

March 30, 2009

Videotron, an integrated communications company providing cable television, interactive multimedia development, Internet access services, cable telephony and wireless telephone service in Quebec, has announced it is opening a new client contact center in the Lanaudiere regional capital, in front of the Galeries Joliette shopping concourse. The new contact center will create 271 new full-time positions by the summer of 2010.

Videotron has significant growth last year with the addition of 159,100 clients to its illico Digital TV service, the largest customer increase since the service was introduced. As of December 31, 2008, Videotron had 1,715,620 subscribers to its cable television service, including 927,320 subscribers to illico Digital TV. On that date, there were 1,063,850 subscribers to its Internet access service; 851,990 subscribers to its cable telephone service; and 63,400 activated phones on its wireless telephone service.

“We are very happy to open the Center in Joliette and share our company's continued growth with its citizens by offering full-time, stimulating positions,” said Robert Depatie, president and CEO of Videotron. “This is excellent news for us, for the region and for its population, given the current economic context we are facing at this time.”

Rene Laurin, mayor of Joliette, commented that Videotron's arrival in the city is proof of their dynamic economic development and that the upcoming opening of Videotron's client contact center will bring new life to the whole region.

Set to open its doors in the summer of 2009, Videotron said it will conduct its recruitment at the Salon Emploi - Competences, presented by Emploi Quebec at a job fair from April 2 to 4, 2009.

Back in February, Videotron announced its plans to create 500 jobs in Quebec by end of 2009. More than half of these jobs were available in Videotron Web site in areas like engineering, information technology, customer service, technical support, finance, marketing, construction, network maintenance and human resources.

Also in November of last year, Videotron picked ConceptWave’s Order Care suite to streamline the delivery of integrated communication services, including Internet, telephony, wireless and TV. With this deployment, Videotron has the ability to cost effectively manage quotes, offers and orders from a common data repository and increase the contact experience for current and prospective customers.
