Vodafone D2 Selects Amdocs OSS Planning and Fulfillment Products

January 06, 2009

Amdocs, a provider of customer experience systems, announced that Vodafone D2 has selected its Operational Support Systems (OSS) planning and fulfillment products.

Vodafone D2 said that its subscriber base is growing and its network requirements are becoming more complex. The company was seeking an OSS/NSS (network support system) that can address all future system requirements.

Also, the company was looking for a system capable of supporting fixed mobile convergence between Arcor and Vodafone D2. In May 2008, Vodafone D2 acquired Arcor.

“When evaluating our plans for our future OSS, Vodafone D2 concluded that we needed a set of OSS products that could help us consolidate our network and meet our present and future objectives,” said Volker Behrend, head of Group TNSG at Vodafone D2.

For 'right first time' fulfillment, Amdocs OSS can deliver the automation and network transparency, said Behrend, adding that this is an essential requirement for gaining a competitive advantage necessary to attract and retain subscribers.

Amdocs modular OSS suite is expected to replace Vodafone D2’s in-house developed inventory system. The company plans to use Amdocs’ system as the foundation for its future OSS architecture for planning and rolling out networks.

In addition to deploying Amdocs OSS to automate processes for network planning and capacity management, Vodafone D2 also plans to deploy the system for fulfillment, and data integrity management and reconciliation.

Vodafone D2 will be able to reduce time to deploy its OSS software since Amdocs OSS products are aligned with service oriented architecture standards, according to Amdocs officials.

Last year in November, Amdocs signed a multi-year project agreement with Vodafone to deploy OSS fulfillment products in prime locations across Europe for the company. Amdocs is playing a major role in supporting Vodafone’s Internet protocol/multi-protocol data switching (IP/MPLS) network deployment across Europe.

Amdocs' customer experience systems (CES) combine portfolio of integrated, modular products, consulting and implementation services based on business process expertise, and industry experience to help service providers.
