El Centro de CenturyLink Celebrates its Thirtieth Anniversary

July 21, 2014

As CenturyLink travels down memory lane and relives its thirty years of existence, it has many reasons to be proud of its achievements. Realizing how important the Hispanic market was, committed employees, with support from the company, established a bilingual call center to provide in-language customer service to the company's Spanish-speaking customer base. After this, “El Centro de CenturyLink" was born, and from then on, there was no looking back.

“On behalf of CenturyLink, I would like to congratulate our bilingual call center employees for 30 years of service to the Hispanic community," said Linda Olsen, VP, consumer and small business sales/service for CenturyLink.

El Centro de CenturyLink continues to live up to the company’s vision of improving the lives of customers through products and services, and by providing daily, exceptional, in-language customer service to thousands of Spanish-speaking customers across the U.S.

Reported to be the longest tenured bilingual call center in the industry, El Centro has retained its base in Phoenix, and now has more than 180 bilingual employees to cater to the communication needs of residential and small business. It provides phone and online sales, service and technical support.

Going beyond serving customers, El Centro has committed itself to investing in the communities it serves. It has invested in philanthropic and volunteer efforts on K-12 education and programs that support youth, technology-focused initiatives, and locally-driven efforts that strengthen communities and make them better places to live.

"Years ago, we understood the importance of serving the growing Hispanic market, and today, we continue evolve to meet the needs of our bilingual customers through our services we provide, our bilingual call center, as well as continuing our philanthropic efforts,” continued Olsen.

Even after thirty years, El Centro  reportedly remains at the forefront of bilingual customer service call centers, and continues to live up to the company’s broad vision of strengthening and improving the communities it serves.

Ken McMahon, VP and general manager for the Phoenix market at CenturyLink, expressed his gratitude to all those who had contributed to making El Centro a successful bi-lingual call center. On July 21st, El Centro is to celebrate its 30th birthday with a grand luncheon.
