AT&T Plans to Launch Digital Life in 15 Markets

March 26, 2013

Customers in 15 markets across the U.S. will soon be able to access and control their home from anywhere, anytime with any Web-enabled devices – smartphone, tablet or PC. AT&T has announced it will roll out its home security and automation solution, AT&T Digital Life, in 15 markets instead of eight planned earlier.

The company has plans to launch Digital Life in up to 50 markets by the end of 2013.

With the help of AT&T Digital Life’s dedicated 24/7 monitoring centers, professionals can alert customers, law enforcement agencies and fire departments of any mishap, providing the details on the location inside the home where the incident occurred.

Customers will have ability to choose security features such as window sensors, glass break detectors, carbon monoxide sensors and more.

With a user-friendly application provided in Digital Life, residents can easily set up programs and alerts that can enable them to manage and control security and automation devices already installed in their homes. For example, customers can be prompted when their front porch video camera detects motion, or they can set their system to turn on lights, unlock the door and change the thermostat when the garage door opens.

The fully-digital, wireless Digital Life platform gives customers flexibility with the sensors and services available, including water leaks, CO2, smoke and glass break sensors, thermostats for managing energy, wirelessly-controlled door locks, video cameras, and more.

"We've been building AT&T Digital Life with the intent to establish a strong position in an industry ripe with potential to connect customers to their homes in a game-changing, wireless-centric experience," Kevin Petersen, senior vice president, AT&T Digital Life, said in a statement. "We did extensive research, listened to our customers and worked hard to build a solution with an unmatched set of assets. We are excited for our customers to begin experiencing Digital Life and all the benefits it offers."
