Call Center to Add 500-Seats in the Dominican Republic

April 16, 2008

GlobCom, a nearshore provider of outsourced call center services, recently announced that it will begin a new operation in the Dominican Republic in a move that is expected to generate 500 jobs in that country, said Eddy Martínez Manzueta, Director Investment and Export Center (CEI-RD, or Centro de Exportación e Inversión de la República Dominicana).

GlobCom is based in Santiago, Dominican Republic and has a sales office in Hollywood, Florida. The company offers a complete package of BPO services, including inbound services, customer service, inbound and outbound sales, confirmation and order placement, lead generation, technical help desk, IVR support, Web chat and appointment setting.

Martinez Manzueta also stated that the company is interested in expanding its services to San Francisco de Macoris as part of its development and growth strategy. He stated that GlobCom’s new venture constitutes a portion of CEI-RD’s goal of attracting foreign investment to create and generate employment sources for the Dominican Republic, and that the creation of new jobs and new foreign investment represents the policies implemented by Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez.

Globcom is currently operating a call center in Santiago de los Caballeros that employs more that 200 agents and administrative staff members. The company signed a contract with a foreign organization, allowing it to unify commercial criteria and generate more than 1,600 jobs in the country’s northern region, mainly in this city.

Said Martinez Manzueta, “The biggest challenge for agents is to recruit more 1,400 people in the months to come.”
