CRM Vendor Etelos Intros Etelos Application Server Version 6

January 17, 2008

CRM vendor Etelos has announced that the Etelos Application Server, Version 6, is now available as an on-demand service platform for Web developers. This version gives Web app developers an "open, agnostic platform with support for the most popular Web languages, tools and databases," according to the Etelosians.

V6 includes support for MySQL, PostgreSQL and legacy LAMP-based apps as well as other frameworks. Features include cross application synching, integrated database management interfaces, sub-version control, and Web-based development environment.

Company officials say the new product lets developers sync multiple applications at the database level without coding, and to ensure application updates occur with better version control. There's support for legacy LAMP Web apps so LAMP/ MySQL developers can bring their current applications to the Etelos platform with "little or no re-coding."

Version 6 includes integrated licensing distribution, which manages provisioning, billing, user licensing, user management and support with the Etelos Marketplace.

"Sign up and get a developer account in minutes, copy over your app, push a few buttons and you are virtually done," said Danny Kolke, Etelos Founder & CTO. "Instead of having to architect and code the framework from scratch, this is a configuration utility that the developer sets."

In November Etelos announced that two executives joined the company: Leon Drozdowski, who joined as the Vice President of Operations, and Don Campbell as new Vice President, Strategic Development.

Jeffrey L. Garon, President and CEO of Etelos, said he was confident both men would "play key roles in driving Etelos" in the firm's mission to "use Web applications to achieve their goals."

Drozdowski will lead Etelos' global sales and service efforts. He has more than 30 years experience with software sales and services teams. Most recently, he was Vice President of Americas Professional Services for Mercury Interactive. Prior to MI, he held senior executive positions with Computer Sciences, Oracle, CATS Software and Compuware.

Campbell will lead Etelos' partner development and platform evangelism efforts. Most recently, he led the evangelism efforts for Office Live at Microsoft, building the partner ecosystem and driving grass-roots community engagement using channel9.msdn.com and other similar vehicles. Prior to Microsoft, he was Senior Director, Product Management at Infravio, which was acquired by WebMethods.

In October Etelos announced that it had formalized a partnership with Web development firm BluCapp as a Premier Development Partner. According to terms of the deal, BluCapp is expected to create, develop and enhance future versions of Etelos CRM for Google Apps, and BluCapp will take advantage of the Developer Edition of Etelos CRM to release its own version of the application.

"Taking an existing CRM product and building from its base of success is a great example of how the Etelos Ecosystem benefits a Web developer," BluCapp CEO Robert Thordarson said. "Being able to use the Etelos Marketplace to manage the deployment of the application ensures that BluCapp's CRM will be easy for businesses of any size to implement."
