Alteva's Video Auto Attendant Introduced to Expanding IP Communications Industry

January 11, 2011

The availability of the industry's first on demand video auto attendant has been announced by Alteva. A significant portion of end users are seeking ways to integrate video capabilities into their business with the continued expansion of the IP communications industry. Customers will experience a video greeting with routing options by interacting with Alteva’s Video Auto Attendant.

On demand video access to the highest levels of expertise irrespective of the location will be given to the user by Video Auto Attendant. A video stream is presented to users with a video endpoint dial into Alteva's network instead of an audio stream. Users can either view a recording of a person reciting options or graphical cues to help them make decisions, which will route them to the appropriately skilled live agent with this video stream.

In a press release, William Bumbernick, chief innovation officer for Alteva, said, "We've been fortunate enough to look at our industry and understand where the innovation needs to be. Customers think video is expensive and a next generation thing, but part of the advancement of Alteva's hosted communications platform is that video is there if you need it at no extra cost. That's the benefit of a hosted solution. When new innovations come out, they immediately become part of the product. It's all there and ready to go when the customer is ready to use it."

Users are also able to leave a visually recorded voice message with Video Voicemail. Video on Hold presents the user with streaming video in place of 'hold' music. The video could include live events, commercials, product specials or even user tutorials. Businesses can therefore leverage customers' time with these capabilities. Customers can also receive something of value as they wait. This results into more comprehensive and satisfying user experience. Depending on the video endpoints, documents can also be shared with an add-on capability of Video Voicemail.

A web-friendly video auto attendant solution is also on the cards for Alteva. Users will be able to connect to Alteva’s switching service by dialing in through a traditional telephone line or mobile device. They can then use a web application that will stream the videos directly to the user.
