Tharanco Group Begins Deployment of YuniquePLM at its Greg Norman Collection

April 09, 2010

Gerber Technology has announced that Tharanco Group has begun implementation of YuniquePLM at its Greg Norman Collection division.

With the deployment of this product lifecycle management (PLM) solution, Tharanco Group expects to streamline the design, product development, and supplier collaboration processes.

Gerber officials said that this will be accomplished by centralizing and making up-to-date product information more accessible. This will support quicker and better informed decision-making throughout the business.

Greg Norman Collection said that one of its goals is to implement across diverse divisions and brands, system platform. Company officials said that scalability and flexibility were among the key criteria included in the company's extensive evaluation.

Rajiv Advani, director of Information Systems at Tharanco Group, said that they were attracted to the YuniquePLM Microsoft .NET framework and browser-based application as they addressed the company's needs for an economical, easy to use and implement solution that is easy to configure rather than requiring significant customization.

"From a business perspective, we like how it brings together all the pieces of the product puzzle into a single, centralized process. Once we saw how our designers and developers preferred it, we knew it was the best choice for our business," Advani said.

Once the deployment at its largest apparel unit is completed, the New York-based holding company plans to extend use of the Web-based software across its more than 20 apparel brands.

"While we expect PLM to save us time and money, the larger goal for us is to become more accurate and consistent in our product definition," said Bjorn Bengtsson, director of merchandising and design at Greg Norman Collection.

Bengtsson said that YuniquePLM makes this possible by putting everything the company needs in one system. "With everything at our fingertips, we will no longer need to search through images, spreadsheets, files, and overloaded email folders to accomplish our work."

In about two months time, design and product development teams are expected to go-live on the new system. Additionally, the company plans to add other divisions, team members, and global suppliers in future phases of implementation.

"With a rapid implementation in process at Greg Norman Collection, we look forward to extending the benefits both across the brands and with the company's global supplier community," said Bill Brewster, president for Gerber Software Solutions at Gerber Technology.
