Georgia Town Getting New Tandem Call Center

September 29, 2014

With the trend continuing of more and more call center jobs coming backto the United States, more and more states are reaping the benefit. One particular state seeing an increase in new jobs is Georgia. Late last week, the Americus Times Recorder reported that the Americus-Sumter Payroll Development Authority (PDA) is opening a new call center. The new center is housed in a freshly remodeled building located on the town’s Industrial Drive. The center will have a number of different companies sharing the space, including PharmaCentra, ConCentra Solutions and PetCareRx.

The new contact center will be bringing as many as 140 new jobs. At a ribbon cutting ceremony announcing the renovated center, Dan Berman, CEO of PharmaCentra and ConCentra Solutions announced his companies would be hiring 35 new employees. The hiring process isn’t going to be an overly speedy one as he said his firms would continue their hiring spree into 2015.

Paul Hall, PDA chair talked about the new call center and new jobs to the newspaper saying, “Sumter County and its people create a strong backbone and workforce to continue moving us forward. Partnerships such as these make our community a great place for businesses to grow and thrive.”

Georgia is turning into quite the mecca for call center jobs. In the last few years, the state has rocketed up the charts and is now the seventh largest employer of call center jobs. Just last week, another firm in the form of TSYS announced it was bringing call center jobs to Columbus, Georgia and would eventually be offering more than 450 new positions.

In Americus, Concentra’s portion of the call center facility will house a total of more than 200 positions. The interesting aspect of this particular deal is the companies all agreeing to share space in the same building. One has to wonder if that kind of move is going to become a trend in the next few years.
