Enterprise PaaS, Growth and Challenges: Research and Markets

Research and Markets increased its offerings by adding TechNavio’s report on the global enterprise PaaS market to its roster. The report entitled, ‘The Global Enterprise PaaS Market 2011-2015,’ has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts.

Enterprise PaaS is set to grow with its importance in the cloud computing industry increasing, and this appears to be confirmed by TechNavio’s analysts, who have forecast this global market to grow at a CAGR of 56.65 percent over the period 2011-2015.

That’s fair enough, given the fact that even an economic downturn didn’t stifle its growth. So, what will trigger its growth, why will PaaS market become bigger? Well, analysts indicate that the use of multiple application platforms and complex equipment has only succeeded in making organizational infrastructure more complex. This means that companies have to plough in more money into managing applications infrastructure.

However, with PaaS, organizations can dynamically manage and maintain enterprise applications through third-party vendors, who will provide complete infrastructure management solutions. This means that companies can focus on their core business needs without being bothered with the hassles of dealing with common issues of application infrastructure management.

Another reason why PaaS is set to make its mark on the horizon of global enterprise is that the less-complex interfaces and self-service provisions of cloud computing can be managed even with companies working on limited budgets.  Also, customers can build applications rapidly and the time to market is considerably reduced. The development environment can be either premise or Web-based.

So, PaaS does seem like a good thing to have around, as it is being regarded widely as a catalyst for long term market growth, but- the question remains – can it serve as a secure enough platform for cloud computing?

With organizations increasingly becoming more concerned about data security, PaaS does have a tough job on its hands- a challenge that it does seem capable of overcoming.
