CRM for SMB Vendor Surado Announces Audit Trail Module

November 09, 2007

Surado Solutions, a vendor of CRM products for small to medium sized enterprises, has announced the availability of Surado CRM Audit Trail Module. The module will help companies "adhere to the data audit portion of the various security compliance regulations including HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, USA Patriot Act and FERPA," company officials say.

Most organizations are facing an increased need for more robust tools to protect sensitive information, and find the first line of defense is to use access control techniques to prevent unauthorized users from getting to sensitive information. "However," Surado officials say, "it is also important to monitor the security architecture to ensure it is effective and to provide an additional deterrent. Robust auditing capabilities complement access controls and are key to comprehensive security architecture."

So in addition to checking the effectiveness of other security safeguards, "the Surado CRM Audit Trail Module can help to discover security threats that were not previously identified."

It has an automated auditing product to "reduce the burden of establishing effective audit measures" by providing a graphical user interface to assist in planning and configuring the audit environment. Audited information is stored in tables for review and reporting. Security officers may audit specific database access, functional access, sensitivity of the data and data manipulation actions based on individual and/or group affiliations.

Audit trails are a technical mechanism that helps managers maintain individual accountability.  By advising users that they are personally accountable for their actions, which are tracked by an audit trail that logs user activities, managers can help promote proper user behavior. Users are less likely to attempt to circumvent security policy if they know that their actions will be recorded in an audit log.

In May Surado announced that its flagship products Surado Enterprise CRM 5.1 and Surado Small Business CRM 5.1 will now include project management capabilities that tightly integrate with MS Project Manager.

Introduced last August, the Project Management Features are now part of the core Surado CRM product lines. Surado CRM Project Manager includes the ability to create and manage projects, tasks, sub-tasks and associated activities.

In addition, users will be able to assign and track resources, budgets, status, project timelines and project managers. Because the Surado Project Manager is part of the core product line, it links projects to individuals and vice versa.  These individuals may be users of the system and/or other third parties linked to a project.

Surado Project Manager integrates with Microsoft Project Manager so users can migrate project information data between Microsoft and Surado.  In MS Project, users will be able to view the project using Microsoft’s graphing capabilities. In Surado, the Projects will be linked to other areas of the CRM system to provide a true 360 degree view.

Last fall Surado announced the support of Computer Telephony Integration with ShoreTel IP PBX telephone systems.
