Detroit Media Opens New Consumer Solutions Center, Creates Jobs

February 01, 2011

Detroit Media Partnership has announced its plans to unveil new customer service center at its Sterling Heights operations facility in March.

Company has opened this new center to end the newspapers’ call to a call center in Tulsa, Okla., and create 34 new jobs in the Sterling Heights center. The new Consumer Solutions Center is scheduled to open March 28 and is set to employ 31 customer service representatives (who will be represented by Teamsters Local 372) and three supervisors. Those interested can apply through this link here.

Susie Ellwood, CEO of Detroit Media Partnership said that they are very pleased to bring these jobs back to Metro Detroit. She said that the locally staffed call center will significantly benefit their readers because they will be speaking to well-trained representatives who really know their products and their community.

"We're also using this opportunity to raise the level of technology we use to find solutions to customer problems," Ellwood said. "For example, the center will be capable of communicating with readers by whatever medium they find most convenient: phone, e-mail, live chat or on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter."

The new, technically advanced call center will handle all customer service questions for readers of The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, including the newspapers' electronic editions and web sites. The center will also serve readers of the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus and other products managed by Detroit Media Partnership.

Detroit Media Partnership manages the business functions of the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News. As the largest newspapers in Michigan, with two of the most visited websites in the market, the Free Press and The News combine to reach a weekly audience of 1.9 million people; 50 percent of adults in this market see its products.
