Long Lines to sell wireless network assets to AT&T Mobility [Global Data Point]


(Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Communications provider, Long Lines has announced it has agreed to sell its wireless network assets and transfer its Long Lines Wireless subscribers to AT&T Mobility. AT&T Mobility has also agreed to purchase transport services from Long Lines utilising its fibre optic network. This transaction does not affect any of Long Lines' non-wireless network services including landline voice, broadband internet and cable TV programming. Long Lines plans to re-invest the proceeds of the sale to expand its non-wireless service offerings, and fibre optic network. The sale is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2013 or first quarter of 2014 following regulatory approval by the Federal Communications Commission. Prior to the sale, Long Lines Wireless customers will see no changes in their services or their wireless bills, and all Long Lines Wireless stores will remain open for at least six months after the sale. Following the sale, Long Lines Wireless customers will have additional choices from among the 4G service plans and phones offered by AT&T.
