Technisource Survey: IT Worker Confidence Index Remains Unchanged; Confidence in Employer Future Grows


FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 26, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Technisource IT Employee Confidence Index changed only slightly from 56.3 to 56.2 in the second quarter of 2011, according to a recent survey of 3,833 U.S. adults among which 227 are employed in IT commissioned by Technisource®, the technology services division of SFN Group, Inc. The survey, conducted online by Harris Interactive®, demonstrates stabilization in the confidence levels of IT professionals. While individual confidence remained constant, confidence in employers' future success rose six percentage points to a high of 70.0, representing the highest level since Q4 2007.



Results from the Q2 IT Employment Report: A full 70 percent of workers indicated that they were confident in the future of their current employer. This number continues to climb, up six percentage points from the previous quarter.

Nearly three-fourths (71 percent) of IT workers believe it is unlikely they will lose their jobs, showing no change from the first quarter of 2011.


Sixty-five percent of IT workers believe the economy is getting stronger and/or staying the same, compared to 69 percent in the first quarter of 2011.

Twenty-one percent of tech workers believe there are more jobs available, remaining virtually unchanged from the same percent in the previous quarter.

Only 21 percent of respondents are not confident in their ability to find a new job, up three percentage points from the previous quarter.

More IT professionals are considering potential job changes, climbing three percentage points to 35 percent.

"We are seeing more stabilization in the confidence levels of IT professionals and a hopeful view of current employers' ability to grow and succeed," said Michael Winwood, president of Technisource. "However, the likelihood of workers to look for other opportunities continues to grow and employers need to continue to provide their top talent with training and development programs to keep them from doing so. Because technology departments have become accustomed to doing more with less for so long, IT workers are reaching a point where productivity is affected and hiring managers need to add additional staff, whether on a contract or permanent basis." Survey Methodology This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of Technisource from April 12-14, May 10-12, and June 14-16, 2011 among 3,833 adults ages 18 and older of which 227 are employed in IT.
