Opscode's Chef Achieves Contributor Milestones

SEATTLE, WA, Oct 20, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Opscode, Inc., a cloud infrastructure automation company, today announced that more than 200 individuals and 50 companies have registered to contribute to Chef, an open-source systems integration framework that enables companies of all sizes to build, scale, and manage world-class, fully automated infrastructures. Together, these individuals and corporations make Chef the largest open-source configuration management project based on the number of contributors.

"We announced Chef in January 2009 with a short and simple blog post and only a handful of contributors. "We want to sincerely thank all of the individuals and companies that have helped to bring Chef to where it is today. But we're only just getting started and we look forward to working with this dynamic community to help Chef do even more." The Chef corporate contributor list now includes some of the most respected names in infrastructure: VMware, Rackspace, Rightscale, 37Signals, Peritor, Basho, Dyn, Wikia, Engine Yard, and many others.

These companies, and countless individuals, have made over 1,000 contributions to Chef.

"I'm excited about the momentum of Chef, both as an open-source project and as a community of talented developers and systems engineers," said Dan Prince, Software Developer at Rackspace.
