Redbeacon Wins Top Prize for Best Startup of 2009 At TechCrunch50

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- Redbeacon (http://www.redbeacon.com), an innovative new product that will enable users to find local service providers, receive price quotes for jobs, and schedule service appointments, won the grand prize at the prestigious TechCrunch50 Conference this week. Redbeacon was selected from over 1,000 applicants to launch on-stage in front of more than 1,500 venture capitalists, journalists, and other industry influencers. The 50 top finalists competed over two days for the grand prize of $50,000 plus a share of $1.3 million in advertising credits from Conference sponsors.

"Winning TechCrunch50 is an incredible honor and great accomplishment given the incredible caliber of the startups competing this year," said Ethan Anderson Redbeacon cofounder. "We are extremely grateful to the TechCrunch organizers and conference sponsors for the recognition and look forward to bringing Redbeacon to the masses." Consumers will initially be able to request services around the San Francisco Bay Area in early-October.

"TechCrunch50 hosted a great line-up of new start-up launches this year covering a range of new technologies from across the globe," said Michael Arrington, founder and editor of TechCrunch. "Redbeacon is an exciting new platform for consumers. The team has taken the time to solve a lot of the pain points about local marketplace needs for both consumers and merchants, and we look forward to watching them grow." About Redbeacon Redbeacon is a revolutionary new approach to finding local services through the Internet. At www.redbeacon.com, consumers request everyday services and receive price quotes from qualified local service providers. After comparing price quotes, business profiles, credentials, ratings and reviews, consumers can schedule appointments online with the service provider they like best. The product was created by three seasoned Internet veterans from Google (News - Alert), Ethan Anderson, Yaron Binur and Aaron Lee, who saw the need to improve online local search. Redbeacon was unveiled at the prestigious TechCrunch50 Conference in September, 2009.
