Carl Lamm Holding AB: Thai Airways saves money on IP telephony from Carl Lamm

STOCKHOLM, Sweden --(Business Wire)-- Thai Airways in Sweden has entered into a four-year IP telephony agreement with Carl Lamm. Under the terms of the agreement Carl Lamm will supply Thai Airways with hardware and a traffic management solution as well as switchboard functionality. Carl Lamm sees great potential for IP telephony among established companies and expects the number of IP telephony customers to increase in the coming years.

When looking for a new telephone solution, Thai Airway's primary requirement was flexibility. The company needed to be able to make quick changes in traffic flow at certain times in the day when call traffic is high. Thai Airways was also looking for solution that would work in the long-term given the company's communication requirements today and in the future. Previously, the company used a traditional telephone exchange solution, the disadvantages of which were that upgrades were costly and it was viewed as rigid and inflexible.

Now the company has opted to go with an IP telephone solution from Carl Lamm. As the switchboard is virtual, traffic flow can be reconfigured rapidly. Furthermore, the solution facilitates traffic flow monitoring, such as seeing who is logged in and where the flow is directed. Previously, departments within the Thai Airways organization leased different telephone exchange solutions, but now the entire company is gathered on the same IP telephony exchange. Carl Lamm is supplying both the server and the traffic management solution. This is seen as an advantage by Thai Airways, in part due to favorable pricing and in part because it is easier to manage requirements when the same provider is supplying both switchboard functionality and the traffic management solution. "The new solution has increased our accessibility greatly. We can answer the phone in several different ways as it is easier to redirect calls to our cell phones or answer calls via the computer. Furthermore, this is an extremely priceworthy solution - the investment has given us very good value for our money," said Jonas Broström, Sales Director at Thai Airways.

"Given the right IT infrastructure conditions, IP telephony has the required technological qualities that make it possible even for established companies to take the step and leave traditional telephony. Furthermore, the cost-saving potential of IP Telephony is very attractive given the current market situation. We see great potential in supplying IT telephony to our customers," said Måns Sjöstedt, CEO at Carl Lamm AB.
