UTStarcom Personal Communications Ships First UTStarcom Manufactured and Branded Handsets to North and South America


HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. and SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- UTStarcom Personal Communications, a division of UTStarcom, Inc., a recognized worldwide leader in IP-based, end-to-end networking solutions and services, is expanding its brand penetration in North and South America with the first handsets that are specifically manufactured and branded by UTStarcom for sale in the Americas. UTStarcom Personal Communications executives announced today at the CTIA Wireless IT show in San Francisco that the company's CDM-7000 model handset is now being shipped to carriers including Sprint.

The clamshell-style handset is a tri-mode (800/1900 MHz CDMA, AMPs) CDMA2000 1xRTT with a 1.4" CSTN 4K Color Screen (102 x 80). The CDM-7000 measures 3.3" (H) x 1.8" (W) x 0.9" (D), and weighs 2.8 ounces and offers features commonly found on higher-end phones, including 32 polyphonic ringers, LED incoming call indicator, blue LED keypad lighting, two-way speakerphone, voice-activated dialing and PC sync. The handset has two-way SMS/EMS/MMS (system dependent) capabilities, T9 predictive text, and is equipped with128 Mb Flash/32 Mb SRAM memory capabilities that accommodate up to 500 phonebook entries. The CDM-7000 supports PNG, BMP, JPEG image graphic formats and comes with a Li-Ion 850 mAH battery.
The handset is also equipped with the MSM 6050 Chipset, which is GPSOne(TM) capable (E911 Phase2 Supported), system dependent and comes with Li-Ion maH battery and AC charger.
