Muqeem to bridge cultural gap

(Slogan (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Muqeem Khan has used his creativity, experience and animation skills to come up with an interactive simulation that promises to keep cultural heritage alive. He said this in his presentation at the Talent Search program at TedDoha in Doha, Qarae.

Muqeem has worked with visual-effects team on films such as Armageddon, Flubber and George of the Jungle. He teaches 2D and 3D animation at Northwestern University in Qatar. Muqeem’s interactive animation software places him as a candidate to participate at the Doha event scheduled to take place in 2013. His participation depends on the number of comments and views his video gets on the event website.

In his presentation, Muqeem talked about the need for technology that helps people better understand their cultural heritage. The idea uses motion capture technology where the camera instantly produces an animated version of the person’s body which can be controlled by simple movements. The technology enables one to use finger movements and dance wearing digitally animated attire.
