Dell Closes SecureWorks Acquisition

ROUND ROCK, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Today, Dell announced it has closed its acquisition of SecureWorks® Inc., a globally recognized provider of information security services. The acquisition expands Dell's (News - Alert) IT-as-a-Service offerings and gives the company industry-leading capabilities.

SecureWorks processes more than 13 billion security events and sees more than 30,000 malware specimens each day. The company protects more than 3,000 customers worldwide, including over 1,500 banks and credit unions as managed security services clients. SecureWorks is protecting trillions of dollars in financial assets. Its reliability, capability and focus on client service have earned the company a best-in-class customer satisfaction rating from its global client base, and SecureWorks has been recognized by SC Magazine's readers with the "Best Managed Security Service" award four years in row (2006 - 2009).

In a report published on Nov. 29, 2010, Gartner (News - Alert), Inc. positioned SecureWorks in the Leaders quadrant of the "Magic Quadrant for MSSPs (Managed Security Services Providers), North America." In addition, Gartner recently evaluated the pending Dell acquisition of SecureWorks.

An analysis by independent research firm, Forrester Research, Inc. in the January 6, 2011 blog by Khalid Kark entitled, "Dell To Acquire SecureWorks" said the acquisition will benefit Dell customers by allowing them to obtain security services from a trusted partner, while SecureWorks clients will have access to the financial scale and resources of a Fortune-50 player.

"SecureWorks will be the foundational platfrm for Dell's security solutions. Thousands of customers already entrust SecureWorks with mission-critical data resources. Dell looks forward to bringing these solutions to customers around the world."

Steve Schuckenbrock
President, Dell Services

"Our current and future customers can be assured that Dell SecureWorks will continue to deliver excellent customer service and the very best in information security services. The combination of our security expertise and threat visibility with Dell resources creates a tremendous opportunity for Dell SecureWorks to shape the future of security globally."

Mike Cote
Vice President, Dell SecureWorks

"We have been a customer of SecureWorks for over five years, and in that time we have more than doubled the amount of service offerings we receive from SecureWorks. We view SecureWorks as a trusted partner in the managed information security services sector. Immediately following the Dell announcement, SecureWorks met with our team to assure our organization that it was 'business as usual,' and we are comfortable knowing we will continue to receive the outstanding service and support we are accustomed to. The Dell acquisition of SecureWorks fits within our hybrid security strategy which includes Security-as-a-Service, and we feel the resources SecureWorks will have as a part of Dell will only help to enhance the current services provided to us."

David A. Gillman
IT Manager II, Information Security Management
AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah

"Through the managed service we receive from SecureWorks, we have a team of experts monitoring our security around the clock who we have complete trust in. The service has increased security, reduced cost and allowed more time for our security team to focus on key projects. We are excited about the additional resources and capabilities SecureWorks will have as a part of Dell, and anticipate that the acquisition will be very positive for iPSL."

Nick Rose
Senior Network Analyst
Intelligent Processing Solutions (iPSL)

"CRHC viewed SecureWorks as a more reasonably priced, more robust managed services solution. By adopting SecureWorks, we could save CRHC about $50,000 per year while also resulting in improved service."
