Clickatell SMS Campaigns Allow Companies to Reach Customers

November 24, 2009

While the costs of advertising are skyrocketing in spite of a not so robust economy, many companies are searching for smart alternatives for traditional means of advertising. Many of these organizations have discovered SMS Campaigning to be effective and highly affordable, when compared to traditional advertising.

Clickatell, a communication provider specializing in bulk messaging services and SMS gateway connectivity, has recognized this trend and has published its “2009 Festive Mobile Marketing Handbook” to help large and small businesses conceptualize, implement and monitor effective mobile campaigns.
According to Clickatell, the solutions offered by the company are already being used by a broad range of businesses for mobile marketing campaigns. With the company’s solutions, the customers can send timely promotions, respond to orders, alert customers on order and shipment status, and schedule timely collections of goods.
Clickatell quotes a report from CTIA, which states that 4.1 billion texts are sent daily. The research also states that text messages are read within four minutes, compared to 48 hours for email. All these factors show that text messaging can be a very reasonable and affordable way of communicating with the potential customers. Also, text messages are not intrusive like a phone call.
“The mobile phone adds an incredible marketing tool to the mix -- it's highly cost effective for businesses to implement -- and customers want to receive information and special deals before, during and after they shop, conveniently to their mobile," commented Pieter de Villiers, Clickatell CEO. “Given the tremendous popularity and ubiquity of SMS, the potential for mobile marketing is phenomenal.”
Recently Infotechnology Solutions chose Clickatell to offer interactive text alerts to banking customers in Nigeria. This alliance ensures that customers receive real time SMS alerts with every transaction, and thus have immediate knowledge of account movement on their cards. Customers can immediately respond to alerts on transactions considered fraudulent by using Infotechnology’s new solution, MoneyGuard. Moneyguard has already proven to be successful in countries such as Hungary.
