Interactive Intelligence Named a Top 10 Place to Work for in Indianapolis

December 16, 2014

It seems like the end of the year needs to get here faster. The reason is Contact Center Solutions Community sponsor Interactive Intelligence may run out of space at its headquarters in Indianapolis, IN because of the recognition the company has received in just the past few weeks.

Just as a quick summary, Interactive intelligence has recently:  moved up in the rankings of Software Magazine’s Top 500 software and services companies to No. 182; been honored with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award as one of America’s outstanding places to work; and, was given the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals 2014 Philanthropy Award for Outstanding Corporation of the year.  The latest addition to the list is being honored by  O.C. Tanner, a developer of employee recognition strategies and rewards programs serving approximately 8,000 clients in 150 countries as one the Top 10 Coolest Companies to Work for in Indianapolis.

O.C. Tanner selected the Top 10 companies based on past best places to work awards, employee reviews, company culture, and evidence of giving back to the community.

"We're often described by employees as having the flexibility of a startup with all the benefits of a big company," said Kim Kean, vice president of human resources for Interactive Intelligence. "Our mission is to treat team members like family, while helping each individual build a career based on his or her unique talents."

While the term “coolest” has some interesting meanings to various age groups, there seem little denying that Interactive Intelligence has created a very employee welcoming/friendly environment. For example, it offers a number of employee perks, from Free Bagel Friday, to foosball and massages. In addition, employee recognition includes service recognition, impact awards, and day-to-day awards that range from gift cards to spot bonuses.

However, that is almost table stakes for this type of recognition. In what probably weighed heavily in the judging were the company’s benefits that include: paternity leave, an onsite health care clinic, exercise classes, and more. Plus, as noted above because of the recognition it consistently receives, the company also stresses philanthropy, offering volunteer opportunities for employees through its charitable Interactive Intelligence Foundation.

A few factoids about the company are noteworthy.  Its world headquarters include four buildings spanning nearly 300,000 square feet, and thanks to continued growth will be expanding another 100,000 square feet this year.  Today, Interactive Intelligence employs 1,074 people in Indiana and more than 2,000 people worldwide.

"While many team members are initially drawn to our culture and benefits, common feedback we get after employees have been hired is the advantage of working with really smart people," Kean said. "Team members say that as a result of working with such high-caliber colleagues, their own skills have grown faster, which has contributed to expanded opportunities and a more exciting work environment."

So once again congratulations to the Interactive Intelligence team.  What a great way to end the year and set the table for 2105.
