Switch and Data Expands in the Lone Star State

October 08, 2007

Internet exchange and colocation firm Switch and Data has landed a new space adjacent to its existing Dallas INFOMART location, expanding capacity to meet increasing market demand, the company said.

XC Networks, a new Dallas area client of the firm, recently chose Switch and Data’s facility as a central place to interconnect with networks and bandwidth providers, as well as expand its “Linking your World” value proposition.

“Cost effective access to a diverse universe of communications networks is essential to the growth of XC Networks,” Neal R. Heikkinen, executive vice president of XC Networks, said. “Switch and Data’s Dallas facility is one of the most interconnected in the market and provides a secure environment for our business-critical applications.”

The move is central to XC Networks mission as a leading provider of cross-border communications into  Mexico, said Heikkinen , while delivering “last mile solutions and wireless backhaul to link major metro markets in the U.S. and Mexico.”

That makes Dallas a strategic location for XC Networks to access customers and suppliers because it is the regional hub for communications traffic between the United States and Mexico, the company said.

Switch and Data supports the interconnection requirements of regional specialists by providing the broadest footprint of facilities in North American communications hub markets such as Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, New York, Buffalo and Toronto.

“Switch and Data facilities give our customers access to a critical mass of network and bandwidth providers in key regional hubs for communications traffic,” Ernie Sampera, senior vice president of Marketing at Switch and Data, sdaid. “

Switch and Data has expanded in the region two other times and now has more than 65,000 gross square feet of space in the market. The company’s three Dallas locations offer connectivity to 120 networks, from leading national and international providers to regional experts like XC Networks.

We are investing in expansion in markets like Dallas to support our customers’ increasing need for collocation space, interconnection, power and cooling to deliver rich Internet content,” said Sampera.
