The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has named Interactive Intelligence among the 2009 “Best Places to Work in Indiana.”

Interactive Intelligence, a global provider of unified IP business communications solutions, was ranked 12th within the Indiana Chamber’s “Large Companies” category.

“Each company on our ‘Best Places to Work’ list understands how important it is for the success of a business to have a culture that respects and values employees,” said Indiana Chamber president, Kevin Brinegar, in a Wednesday statement.

“These businesses demonstrate that culture in a variety of ways, from fostering open communication and teamwork, to providing training opportunities and unique job benefits.”

“Since inception we’ve made innovation, integrity and flexibility the cornerstones of our company culture,” said Interactive Intelligence founder and CEO, Dr. Donald E. Brown, in the Wednesday statement.

“We believe that our recent ‘best places to work’ designation underscores these values, while also reflecting the importance of providing employees with long-term growth opportunities.”

Interactive Intelligence is a global provider of unified IP business communications. Since its founding in 1997, the company has been able to establish itself as a power player in the industry.

In 1997, Interactive Intelligence started in the industry with less than a dozen software developers, today Interactive Intelligence employs approximately 600 people worldwide with about 400 employees based in Indiana. It is currently the only publicly traded computer software company headquartered in the state.

Interactive Intelligence expanded its existing 120,000 square-foot, custom-designed Indianapolis headquarters in 2008. This expansion was done to be able to occupy an additional 80,000 square feet in a building adjacent to its current northwest-side office.

The Interactive Intelligence headquarters facility features modern, award-winning interior design, a fitness center, and a game room. These surroundings certainly played into the level of satisfaction for the employee base.

Another boost are the employee benefits that include a comprehensive health and vision insurance program, a wellness program, a 401(k) matching program, tuition reimbursement, a computer loan purchase plan and casual dress code. Unique family benefits offered include paternity leave for new dads and adoption assistance.

In addition to the Chamber recognition, the company has also been honored as one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “Top 25 Fastest Growing Public Companies,” a United Way of Central Indiana “Company that Cares,” and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s “Outstanding Employer of the Year.”

Interactive Intelligence has done well to establish a strong position in the contact center market and is now earning a strong reputation as a key employer. This recognition from the Indiana Chamber helps to strengthen the company’s position in its local community, reinforcing its value in the market.
