Lieutenant Colonel Dean Sanders joins Prudential in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas --(Business Wire)--

U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Dean Sanders has joined Prudential Financial, Inc. [NYSE:PRU] as vice president, Operations in the company's Business & Technology Solutions (News - Alert) Center in El Paso, Texas.

In his role at Prudential, Sanders has oversight responsibility for contact center, back office and IT support functions. "It is fantastic having someone with Dean's leadership and operational experience join us," said Ciaran Harvey, vice president and head of Prudential El Paso. "His military background and connection with Ft. Bliss and the El Paso business and civic communities will be valuable assets as we grow our presence here."

Prudential opened the El Paso Business & Technology Solutions office in April to provide services to its business units. Over the next three years, it will hire 300 employees in quality job positions. Many of the new employees will be military veterans and spouses of active military service members.

Before joining Prudential El Paso, Sanders served as the executive officer for Garrison Command at Ft. Bliss - the third largest military installation in the country by population and largest installation by geographic size. Sanders oversaw staff functions, development, planning, analysis, integration and the execution of all services and programs on the base. His military career also included two tours in Iraq as an operations/maneuver officer and as a division primary staff civil affairs officer, and assignments to Ft. Bragg N.C. as a senior observer controller/trainer and later as an executive officer. Sanders has been awarded two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service medals and three Army Commendation medals. He will continue his military service in the U.S. Army Reserves with a unit located in San Antonio, TX.

Before beginning his latest active duty period in 2006, Sanders was owner of an estate planning and financial services firm. Previously, he was the general manager for a building supply company in Durham, N.C. and production & operations manager at Okaya Shinnichi of America in Charlotte, N.C.

Texas has the second largest number of veterans (1.6 million) nationally, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs, with 48,000 living in metropolitan El Paso. Prudential located its new business in El Paso as a way to providing meaningful training and employment to veterans and to spouses of military service members and to people from diverse backgrounds. Approximately 80 percent of the El Paso population is Hispanic/Latina/Latino.

As part of Prudential's longstanding commitment to U.S. veterans, active service members and employees with military backgrounds, Prudential's Veterans Initiative team coordinates companywide efforts to create sustainable programs for transitioning veterans. It also collaborates with corporate peers to support similar programs with an emphasis on providing veterans access to quality education, job training and employment opportunities.
