Education at Work Inc. Opens First On-Campus Call Center

CINCINNATI --(Business Wire)--

Education at Work, a nonprofit contact center provider that offers part-time jobs and tuition reimbursement for students, will open its first on-campus call center location for Macy's, Inc., at Mount St. Joseph University. Students will begin taking live customer calls on Saturday, Nov. 1, in support of macys.com and bloomingdales.com, the company's online sites.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of the on-campus contact center location will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 on the University Pavilion at Mount St. Joseph University.

Since 2012, Education at Work has served college students in the Greater Cincinnati area by offering part-time hourly positions and tuition assistance up to $6,000 annually. More than 100 jobs will be created for students at the Mount as a result of the longtime support and partnership from Macy's and Mount St. Joseph University.

"As one of the nation's premier Omnichannel retailers, Macy's understands the importance of engaging with our customers in stores, online, and via mobile devices," said Mike Gatio, president of Macy's Credit and Customer Services. "Our partnership with Education at Work provides us with customer service representatives who understand both the Macy's brand andour millennial customers, who use all of these channels in their shopping experience.

"More importantly, this new facility will allow us to continue giving back to the community by creating job opportunities for more local students, and providing them with a way to cover some tuition costs while gaining customer service skills they can take with them when they graduate," he added.

Tony Aretz, Ph.D., president of Mount St. Joseph University, believes that the new on-campus contact center will be an added incentive for students who needed a more convenient alternative to the Norwood facility.

"The benefits of the Education at Work program, where students can earn a salary plus tuition reimbursement, were highly desirable to our students but the extra time spent driving to the Norwood facility was a concern to many of them who still carried a full semester of classes," said Dr. Aretz. "With the on-campus call center opening, our students can earn a salary and learn professional skills while being just minutes away from their next class."

Located in Delhi, Mount St. Joseph University serves more than 2,300 students that live on and off campus. The on-campus location will allow students to save money in transportation costs and better enable them to find time to study.

"We are thrilled that Mount St. Joseph University is able to provide a space to accommodate students who may not have easy access to our Norwood campus," says Dougherty. "The partnership with the Mount and Macy's will allow us to continue helping students eliminate debt while providing our client with high-achieving students who are eager to deliver excellent customer service while gaining skills for the future."
