Newly designed seats and cabin [...] [Eire Region] [Mirror (UK)]

(Mirror (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Newly designed seats and cabin interiors inspired by the look of its Dreamliners and superjumbo A380s feature in a makeover of British Airways' 95 Airbus shorthaul aircraft.

Fitting-out work has started on the jets which fly to Europe from Heathrow and Gatwick, with the project expected to last a year.

New charcoal grey leather seats are slimmer and ergonomically designed with chair backs devised to provide more knee space for the passenger behind and come with an eye-level tablet holder, which can also provide storage for magazines, and a four-way moveable headrest. And yes, that does all translate to mean there will be extra economy seats, which the carrier says will allow more low fares.

The Club Europe business cabin retains 2:2 configuration but with seats bridged by a central table.

The airline is also in talks with UK satellite telecoms firm Inmarsat to bring in 4G broadband in the skies, starting with domestic flights. ba.com.
