Making a success in world of business [Gloucestershire Echo (England)]

(Gloucestershire Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE countdown has begun to the 2013 Women in Business Awards gala presentation evening.

The awards, which have Coutts&Co as the lead sponsor, will be presented at Hatherley Manor Hotel on March 21. And with year's record number entries there is a good cross section of female entrepreneurs in the running for the 10 awards. In the Woman of the Year category there are three finalists: Helen Hammond, managing director of Elephant Creative, a marketing and PR agency in Northleach; Julie Moore, managing director of Green Gourmet in Stonehouse and Debbie Franklin, area manager for Andrews and Partners, estate and lettings management. Through sheer determination, professionalism and a passion for revolutionising the marketing industry, Helen Hammond has grown Elephant Creative steadily and significantly. The ethos of the company is its commitment to plain English and a commonsense approach to marketing. The company was launched by Helen in 2008 and has grown from a one- woman band to a company with a team of associates and clients ranging from law firms and schools to SMEs and not for profit organisations.

In a male dominated environment Julie Moore has demonstrated a determination and focus in building a career path from trainee chef to managing director of an award-winning food service manufacturer. Her personable approach has kept her in contact with customers throughout her career, developing a portfolio of experience that covers every step along the supply chain. Since her appointment as managing director Julie has doubled the company's turnover and maintained double digit growth in each year.

Award-winning Debbie Franklin has worked for Andrews Estates and Lettings management for 22 years and for the past nine years has been area manager covering Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and Oxfordshire responsible for 80 staff within 12 branches.

Debbie champions women in the workplace and more than 90 per cent of the staff she employs are female, many of whom have returned from maternity to continue their employment. She actively encourages the personal development and progression of each individual employee through an extensive training and coaching programme. Debbie is the only female area manager out of 11 and her area was the most profitable part of the business in 2012. She was instrumental in helping Andrews diversify into a new area of business, Andrews Property Services For details about the Women in Business awards event and for the full list of finalists visit www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/wib (c) 2013 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
