Feb 28, 2013 (Chicago Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A man was shot in the leg as he struggled with a robber a block from the 911 call center on the West Side, police said.
The robbery happened about 11:55 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of West Madison Street, about a block from the Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
Someone approached the 24-year-old man from behind and demanded his wallet. The man tried to fight off the attacker and was shot, police said.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh.
Police didn't have a description of the attacker, except that he was wearing a gray hoodie.
