Downgrade Alert for National Grid (NGG)

Feb 07, 2013 (SmarTrend(R) Upgrades/Downgrades via COMTEX) -- National Grid (NYSE:NGG) was downgraded from Overweight to Neutral at HSBC today. The stock closed yesterday at $54.67 on volume of 530,000 shares, below average daily volume of 599,000. National Grid share prices have moved between a 52-week high of $58.03 and a 52-week low of $49.55 and closed yesterday at 10% above that low price at $54.75 per share. The 200-day and 50-day moving averages have moved 0.08% higher and 0.15% lower over the past week, respectively.

National Grid PLC owns, operates and develops electricity and gas networks. The Group's electricity transmission and gas distribution networks are located throughout the United Kingdom and in the north-eastern section of the United States. They also own liquefied natural gas storage facilities in Britain and provide infrastructure services to the mobile telecom industry.

Potential upside of 12.4% exists for National Grid, based on a current level of $54.75 and analysts' average consensus price target of $61.55. The stock should find resistance at its 50-day moving average (MA) of $56.27, as well as support at its 200-day MA of $54.58.
