Accord gives KOLD back to Cox customers

Cox cable customers worrying about whether they would see this weekend's football games and other KOLD Channel 13 programming can rejoice.
On Friday evening, KOLD's parent company, Raycom Media, reached an agreement with Cox Communications, allowing service to be restored to thousands of Tucson-area customers.
The television station posted a statement on its website declaring an agreement had been reached, and KOLD Vice President and General Manager Debbie Bush later confirmed the announcement.
"We are thrilled to have it back. We want to thank everyone for their patience and continued loyalty," Bush said.
The channel returned to the air for Cox subscribers at about 8:30 p.m., she said.
Neither KOLD nor Cox would disclose details of the agreement, but the companies had been negotiating since October.
"We regret the recent disruption in service and appreciate the patience and support of our customers as we sought to reach an agreement that is both fair and reasonable," said Lisa Lovallo, vice president and area manager for Cox Communications Southern Arizona.
The previous agreement expired just before midnight Jan. 1, and KOLD had been off the air for Cox subscribers since then.
Cox is believed to have 109,000 Tucson-area subscribers, Bush said in an earlier interview.
Raycom stations in Louisiana, Virginia, Florida and Ohio also were effected by the contract dispute, and service in those areas was also restored, Bush said.
