IDC: China Reckoned to Have 500mn Smartphone Users by 2013

BEIJING, Dec 17, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China is reckoned to have over 500 million smartphone users by the end of 2013, according to the Q3 tracking report on China's mobile phone market released by IDC.

Shown from the report, 300 million smartphones will be shipped in China in 2013, up 44% year on year. Meanwhile, the total shipments of mobile phones are guessed to reach 380 million units in the country next year, up 5% on a year-on-year basis.

The shipments of smartphones in China are reckoned to hit 430 million units in 2016, taking up 88.3% of the country's entire mobile phone market, according to Wang Jiping, assistant director of IDC's China computer system research division.
