Global Technology Transfer Group, Inc. (GTT Group) to Sell Enterprise Network Patent Portfolio

Portland, OR, Dec 12, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Global Technology Transfer Group, Inc. (GTT Group) announces the availability of the Wireless Network Management Patent Portfolio related to corporate enterprise networks.

The Wireless Network Management Patent Portfolio contains three issued US patents that relate broadly to monitoring and managing the wireless portion of enterprise networks. The inventions claimed in the portfolio cover functionalities critical to enterprise network management that have been driven by the rapid adoption of wireless mobile devices in the workplace.

Computer networks serve as a critical element to an organization's infrastructure. These enterprise networks provide wired and wireless access to users in order to integrate a variety of systems and devices. While traditional enterprise networks have been primarily focused on wired solutions, recent increases in demand have been driven by the rapid adoption of smartphones, tablets and mobile computers.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is a corporate policy that enables employees to bring in their own personal devices to access the corporate network. While BYOD creates multiple advantages for businesses, it has also dramatically altered the IT department's traditional management of these networks. It has become essential for the IT department to accommodate these personal mobile devices into their network operations, although the difficulties of securely managing the network are only exacerbated by this accommodation. Furthermore, this accommodation of personal devices attempting to access the corporate network must be accomplished with a minimal disruption of the real time flow of network traffic over a corporate network..

The inventions disclosed in the Wireless Network Management Patent Portfolio discuss systems and methods for detecting traffic from an unknown wireless device on a computer network. After analyzing the characteristics of the wireless device and determining its access privileges, the device is either granted or denied access to the wireless network. The patents solve the critical issue of secure access of a diverse array of wireless devices to a corporate network. The solutions covered by the patents are found in products offered by major network equipment providers.

"Each year consumers are overwhelmed with a variety of new mobile devices that are transitioning from personal to professional use," said GTT Group Chairman and CEO Michael Lubitz. "The Wireless Network Management Patent Portfolio presents a straightforward way of integrating wireless devices into the corporate environment." GTT Group has prepared evidence of use materials to illustrate how the patents have been adopted by major market participants. The materials provide insight into the strategic potential of the Wireless Network Management Patent Portfolio. The evidence of use materials will be made available to interested parties under non-disclosure and non-notice provisions.

GTT Group will be approaching potential buyers and providing materials explaining the strategic advantages of acquiring the portfolio. In addition, GTT Group's experts will be available to discuss the strengths of the patents and evidence of use in the market. The portfolio will be sold at a private auction in February 2013.
