ComEd unveils first ever energy efficiency education programme in the US for adults with developmental disabilities

Oct 08, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- ComEd today revealed on Monday that it has introduced the first-of-its-kind energy efficiency programme designed and taught by individuals with developmental disabilities.

In conjunction with the launch, the company is partnering with eight nonprofit organisations throughout Chicago that work with people with developmental disabilities.

According to the company, each of the nonprofit organisations nominated an individual to serve as an ambassador. Each of the ambassadors and staff were trained with interactive demonstrations, providing easy and simple energy-efficiency tips to a larger audience.

The company added each participating organisation will conduct eight to ten outreach events before the end of the year.

Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) is a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXC), an energy provider.
