United States : ZBB Energy Corp. energy storage system installed and commissioned in CHICAGO [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) As part of a micro grid demonstration project, a ZBB Energy Corp. energy storage system has been established and commissioned in Chicago.

A collaboration on a $12 million project of The Illinois Institute of Technology and the U.S. Department of Energy, aiming to provide a template for micro grids at universities, military bases and business parks.

At the time of power outages which affects the regional grid, the design of micro grid will continue with the flow of electricity.

Main aim of subsequent phases the project is to help manage power flow from intermittent sources of generation like solar power.

IIT professor Mohammad Shahidehpour in a statement, said "One of the main elements for the project is to use energy storage as a peaking plant on the campus that is dispatched through the smart grid controls of the overall system, We will look forward to expand the use, size and quantity of ZBB's energy storage platform with future project funding rounds as we further deploy renewable sources, electric vehicles and 'smart buildings' on the campus micro grid in the coming years."
