Sears Holdings Corporation's Business Management System V2.0 Transformation Program Receives PMI® Distinguished Project Award

Project Management Institute (PMI), the leading professional association for project managers, presented Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: SHLD) with a PMI^® Distinguished Project Award for its Business Management System (BMS) V2.0 Transformation Program. By leveraging PMI's A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK^® Guide)-Fourth Edition, one of the nation's largest broadline retailers successfully migrated from a legacy project portfolio management (PPM (News - Alert)) system to Métier's PPM Central™ software in just one year.

Prior to the creation of the BMS V2.0 Transformation program, Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC) was sometimes challenged to manage disparate projects across our more than 30 business units. Each business unit is independently managed and projects were not always strategically aligned. Since the launch of BMS, associates from multiple business units can collaborate on projects in a central location saving time and resources. The transformation enabled SHC to become more agile and to achieve higher levels of portfolio, program and project management maturity based on PMI standards. Much of the success of the project was attributed to the strong commitment and execution of communications management across the entire enterprise.

The project team, led by SHC's Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO) with Métier PPM consultants, was comprised of a core team of 20 members. The team's commitment to ollowing the nine Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK^® Guide-Fourth Edition ensured that the program was completed on-time, within scope and budget and with all the gateway milestones completed on schedule yielding higher benefits than projected.
