NCP engineering to Put the Most Persistent SSL VPN Myths to Rest at Interop Las Vegas

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

NCP engineering

What:

Some of the highest profile security breaches have occurred as a result of using the key building blocks of SSL VPN technology. This begs the question: Why is this happening? Are users implementing the technology incorrectly, or is it simply not as good as all the hype makes it out to be?

At Interop (News - Alert) Las Vegas, Rainer Enders, CTO, Americas of NCP engineering, will analyze the inherent flaws of SSL VPNs and why implementation is crucial for guaranteeing maximum security. He will also detail several myths of security assurance promised by vendors and assumed as safe by VPN users, and dispel dangerous hype, which is leading to over-reliance on the protocol alone.

Why:

Clearly, confusion exists about SSL VPN security-the OpenSSL Toolkit alone was hacked 44 times over eight years. Ultimately, this misinformation undermines the technology and lessens its appeal in scenarios where the protocol is an ideal solution. NCP engineering's presentation will untangle SSL VPN's capabilities from its limitations, and educate attendees about why there is no one-size-fits-all approach to VPN deployments.

Where:

Interop Las Vegas is being held at the Mandalay Bay. NCP engineering's session, "Less Is More: Why SSL VPN Is NOT What You Think It Is", under the Information Security and Risk Management track, will take place in Breakers L.

When:

Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Who:

Rainer Enders, CTO, Americas of NCP engineering has more than 20 years of experience in the networking and security industry. In 2011, he co-authored a whitepaper debunking the myths of SSL VPN security. His other areas of expertise are test automation in quality assurance and the testing and verification of complex network and system architectures.
