BridgeWave Communications Celebrates $100M Cumulative Revenues Milestone

SANTA CLARA, CA, Apr 19, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of 4G millimeter wave backhaul solutions, today announced that it has reached a milestone with $100 million in cumulative revenues for its 60 GHz and 70/80 GHz millimeter wave high capacity and gigabit wireless solutions. These millimeter wave products have been deployed in over sixty countries, cementing BridgeWave's position as the number one supplier of ultra-high frequency, ultra-high capacity gigabit wireless solutions.

In the United States, where the 70/80 GHz spectrum is used by carriers, service providers and private networks, BridgeWave achieved a market leading seventy-two percent market share in 2011 for all "Registered and Constructed" links based on registration data available by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. Globally, Infonetics Research, in their April 2012 Millimeter Wave Biannual report, noted that BridgeWave attained a market leading 55% revenue share for 2011 for 60 GHz & 70/80 GHz products. BridgeWave attributes this market leading position to the carrier-class feature set, high performance and overall product value it delivers to operators and enterprise users.

"The outlook remains positive for BridgeWave, as it has the broadest customer base in this market, straddling both enterprise (access) and carrier (backhaul/transport) customers, and has also expanded its portfolio in 2011, now addressing the mainstream microwave with hybrid TDM/Ethernet products," notes Richard Webb, directing analyst for microwave at Infonetics Research. "With the ability to transport full-duplex gigabit Ethernet data effortlessly, millimeter wave radios have quickly become the highest capacity point-to-point (P2P) radio solution on the market and are ideally suited for small cell backhaul." A key enabler for 4G/LTE network growth will be small cell deployments. With small cell backhaul becoming a critical problem to solve, the 60 GHz band offers a highly attractive solution due to the large spectrum allocation enabling high capacity transmission, excellent interference immunity and, therefore, high frequency reuse, and, in most areas, license-free use. BridgeWave's PicoHaul PG60C is optimized to take advantage of these benefits while being designed for mounting on light poles or the side of buildings in order to unobtrusively blend into the urban environment.

BridgeWave's FlexPort(R) and PicoHaul products have won numerous awards for their innovative design and feature sets required by operators. BridgeWave's multi-disciplinary expertise in developing carrier-class 60 GHz and 70/80 GHz millimeter wave products position the company well to continue to deliver innovative small cell backhaul solutions allowing operators to close the capacity gap and deliver on the promise of 4G speeds.

"Our longevity and experience in bringing carrier-class millimeter wave products to market has afforded us this leadership position, and it's been gratifying to see the market acceptance of our solutions over the years; but we're not done yet," said Amir Makleff, president and CEO of BridgeWave Communications. "As we recently announced with our IBM SiGe and micro-coax packaging developments, we are committed to bringing the cost of millimeter wave solutions down to a level equivalent to their microwave counterparts while maintaining full-duplex gigabit performance, thus allowing operators to cost-effectively solve the tough backhaul challenges as they make 4G a reality." About BridgeWave Communications BridgeWave Communications is the leading supplier of high-capacity 4G millimeter wave backhaul and gigabit wireless connectivity solutions.

BridgeWave's carrier-grade, point-to-point wireless FlexPort(R) links provide a future-proof mobile backhaul solution for carriers and mobile operators looking to support 4G/LTE/WiMAX adoption.

PicoHaul(TM) links provide the same carrier-grade high-capacity, small-cell backhaul for dense cell deployments. The company's 60 GHz and 80 GHz links offer up to ten times the bandwidth of lower-frequency license-free and licensed-band wireless links, while providing superior interference immunity and data security. Founded in 1999, BridgeWave is headquartered in Santa Clara, California. For more information, visit http://www.bridgewave.com.
