Get ready for a whole new experience with Telstra in Townsville

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Townsville locals can experience a hands-on journey into the new-age fibre optic fast lane when the interactive Telstra Fibre Experience Centre opens at Vale Hotel Car Park in Aitkenvale, Wednesday, 18 April until 27 April.

The Telstra Fibre Experience Centre is a custom-built, travelling showcase that provides a comprehensive demonstration of Telstra's products and services operating live on the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Set out as an average home lounge room, the Telstra Fibre Experience Centre offers customers in Aitkenvale and Mundingburra an insight into how they can use BigPond broadband, Telstra T-Box, Telstra T-Hub on the NBN.

The Telstra Fibre Experience Centre will be open between 10.00am and 5.00pm, staffed by experts who will explain the new technology features and their benefits plus how products already in local homes will operate on the new network.

Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for North Queensland, Rachel Cliffe, said with Telstra services on the NBN, the family home will become turbo-charged with amazing levels of connectivity, communication, entertainment and learning options.

"We know Aitkenvale and Mundingburra locals have a lot of questions about the new fibre network and how it impacts them, so the Telstra team will be out in force to help explain the detail and showcase how Telstra services will work in their homes," Ms Cliffe said.

"Telstra has partnered with families and business at every step of the telecommunications journey since 1901, and look forward to working with the local community to help residents harness the full potential of the new fibre network." Ms Cliffe said connecting with family members will be quick and easy on the new fibre network, and fibre's bandwidth means the whole household can do things at the same time.

"The superfast network will support multiple internet uses at the same time -- so on our fastest plans one family member can be downloading movies on their computer while another is checking the weather on the T-Hub, or uploading photos, all at high speed," Ms Cliffe said.

The Telstra Fibre Experience Centre will be open between 10.00am and 5.00pm at Vale Hotel Car Park, 222 Ross River Road in Aitkenvale on Wednesday, 18 April until 27 April.
