Glympse™ Nominated for Best Use of GPS or Location Technology in the 16th Annual Webby Awards

SEATTLE --(Business Wire)--

Glympse™ announced today that its pioneering location sharing app has been nominated for Best Use of GPS or Location Technology in the 16th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. The IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including media mogul Arianna Huffington, Skype (News - Alert) CEO Tony Bates, SHFT.com co-founder Adrian Grenier, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, mobile-phone inventor Martin Cooper, and Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, creators of the Webby Award-winning game app Angry Birds.

Glympse is the easiest way to safely share location with others in real-time. With just a few taps, smartphone users on iPhone (News - Alert)™, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone™ can send a Glympse to anyone via email, SMS, Facebook or Twitter. Glympse's advanced technology gives users complete control over WHO can view their location, WHEN they can view it, and for HOW LONG.

Glympse has proven to be a powerful tool for many uses-alerting colleagues when running late for a meeting, finding friends for after-work get togethers, or just keeping tabs with the family. Sending a Glympse takes only seconds, and the receiver doesn't require any special software; they only need web access to view the sender's real-time location. Glympse users can simply send a one-time Glympse, or set a timer to specify how long they want their ongoing location to be visible.

"Nominees like Glympseare setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year."

"We're thrilled to be nominated for a Webby Award for Best Use of GPS or Location Technology," said Bryan Trussel, CEO of Glympse. "Our goal every day is to offer our users the best application we can, and this nomination supports so many hours of hard work by our team to always be at the leading edge of location-based services, as well as our attentiveness to our users and their needs."

As a nominee, Glympse is also eligible for The Webby Awards' "People's Voice Award", which is voted for online by fans across the globe. From now until Friday, April 27, 2012, Glympse fans are encouraged to cast their votes at http://pv.webbyawards.com/.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 and honored at a star-studded ceremony on Monday, May 21, 2012 at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, where they will have an opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards' famous 5-Word Speeches. Highlights from last year's 5-Word Speeches include: Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour: "Sometimes, geeks can be chic"; IBM (News - Alert) supercomputer Watson: "Person of the year.
