TNS Expands e-Identity Suite with the Launch of Enhanced Routing

RESTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

Transaction Network Services (NYSE:TNS (News - Alert)) launches a breakthrough intelligent routing solution called 'Enhanced Routing', a new offering within its distinctive e-Identity solution suite that excels at lowering operating costs and resolving routing challenges for carriers.

Offered in a managed services model, the service delivers the functionality of a first class, Least Cost Routing (LCR) solution with the benefits of a hosted service. Integrated with extensive intelligent routing and peering capabilities, and coupled with next generation connectivity options such as IPX, TNS' Enhanced Routing is a complete solution unrivalled in the marketplace today.

With telecommunications carriers facing margin pressures and limited resources, TNS' Enhanced Routing is an effective tool to not only significantly reduce long distance costs, but also allow calls to be handled based on other criteria, like quality of service or bilateral agreements. The ability to selectively route traffic across multiple partners gives services providers a competitive edge and improves negotiating power.

Dan Dooley, President of TNS' Telecommunications Services Division, said: "We're very excited to bring Enhanced Routing to the market because inefficient routing can be costly for carriers. TNS integrates a least cost routing engine with additional intelligent routing services such as Enhanced 8XX, Local Number Portability and Carrier ENUM, giving carriers access to improved routing and direct peering with a single query."

Carriers can implement the service without capital expenditure, ongoing maintenance costs or end-of-life considerations. In fact, the managed service model allows carriers who previously could not afford LCR functionality to realize all the benefits of a sophisticated solution. Furthermore, additional costs to terminate to non-traditional carriers can be eliminated with the peering and specialized override functionality which is only available with TNS. This unique automation of the interconnection process offers efficiency gains while extensive reporting allows evaluation and insight into areas such as traffic patterns, identifying and avoiding rate sheet errors, and profitability analysis.

Dan Dooley concludes: "The telecommunications marketplace is dynamic, replete with regulatory change and shifting competitive forces. The TNS managed service model gives carriers the flexibility and service options required to remain agile and respond quickly to the changing market. As traditional long distance services become more mature, we will continue to develop services that yield margin control and operational efficiency. Our customers have depended on TNS to route their communications for many years; now we provide them with the tools to make real-time routing decisions and manage their interconnection partners in the most cost-effective manner. This is the core value behind our e-Identity solution suite."
