SpyderLynk Gets U.S. Patent for SnapTag Technology

Apr 13, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- SpyderLynk, a marketing technology company and creator of the SnapTag, announced its receipt of U.S. Patent No. 8,094,870 titled "Encoding and Decoding Data in an Image" for its SnapTag 2D mobile barcode technology.

In a release, the company noted that the U.S. patent was issued to SpyderLynk on January 10.

SpyderLynk said that unlike with the QR code, a more traditional 2D barcode solution, marketers have the ability to fully brand SnapTags with logos and or meaningful icons versus the Rorschach-looking black box QR code that must be scanned with an app to begin a dialogue. SnapTags turn brand logos into interactive marketing tools. Consumers engaging a SnapTag can activate a full scale interactive brand engagement transforming any brand impression anywhere into the opportunity for a brand experience. SnapTags can be used across media platforms to deliver marketing campaigns customized for different consumer segments and across multiple channels.

According to the company, with SnapTags, consumers only need a camera phone to begin a mobile interactive dialogue, versus being redirected to a website with QR codes. What's more, SpyderLynk's smart marketing platform allows marketers to deliver highly targeted mobile campaigns and measure results with pinpoint accuracy.

SnapTags activate brand marketing, commerce, social and couponing campaigns developed by and hosted on SpyderLynk's marketing platform.
