SYRACUSE, N.Y. --(Business Wire)--

Systems Made Simple, Inc. (SMS), a leading provider of IT systems and services to support critical architecture, data and application challenges in the healthcare industry, today announced that Robert Sheahan has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Steven Van Veen has been promoted to Vice President of Capture, Proposals and Marketing. In these new roles, Sheahan and Van Veen assume primary responsibilities for long-term strategic initiatives at SMS.

"With our recent contract wins and company growth, we determined the need for these two executive-level positions as we move into a new phase of expansion," says Ron Fishbeck, CEO and co-founder of SMS. "Sheahan and Van Veen have played crucial roles in our current success, and we anticipate that these organizational moves will better facilitate us in positioning SMS as a healthcare technology leader in both the federal and commercial space."

As Executive Vice President, Sheahan will oversee new business opportunities within federal agencies and the commercial space. Sheahan will also supervise the creation and implementation of various internal policies at SMS. Sheahan has held the position of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at SMS for the past six years. In this role, he managed all areas of the sales and marketing department, includng account management, proposal development and corporate strategy. Sheahan provided counsel to the company's board of directors, played an instrumental role in the development of strategic relationships, and led business development efforts that resulted in several of SMS' most significant contracts, including GSA's (News - Alert) Veterans Government Wide Acquisition Contract (VETS GWAC) and Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (T4) contract vehicle.

With his promotion to Vice President of Capture, Proposals and Marketing, Van Veen will be responsible for enhancing the structure of SMS' capture department and overall approach to proposal acquisition. Van Veen joined SMS in 2009 as the Director of Proposals and most recently served as the Senior Director of Marketing and Sales. During his time at SMS, he established the company's proposal department and implemented necessary support processes for the completion of rapid proposal responses under multiple prime contract vehicles. Van Veen managed proposal efforts that have resulted in more than $850,000,000 for SMS, including the Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) Program Management Office BPA contract and the Data Center Acquisition Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (DCAT4) contract.

"In promoting Bob and Steve, we feel that our executive team will be better positioned to make crucial decisions that impact the long-term goals of our company," said Al Nardslico, President, Chairman of the Board and co-founder of SMS. "We look forward to their quick transition into these positions as we continue to pursue new contracts for technology support across different industries."
