Apr 02, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Travelmedia has released its educational, motivational e-book, Travel and Tourism: Opening Doors for Your Future, an introduction to the business of travel and tourism.

According to a release, the e-book covers much of the same subject matter as a beginning college class. It includes tutorials and integrated online video and is aimed at students, aspiring professionals or individuals considering a career change. The independent study e-book is based Travelmedia's multi-module classroom version, used by travel industry educators in schools and universities around the world.

Travel and Tourism: Opening Doors for Your Future explores the many career opportunities the travel industry offers and outlines the technical and people skills required to enter and advance in the industry. Its eleven subject modules delve into the history of the travel industry and its various sectors such as Hospitality, Cruise, Transportation, Tour Operation, Travel Agencies and the organizations that promote and market travel, how they work together. The e-book examines current issues such as how tourism affects environments and cultures and its importance to world and local economies and as a catalyst for world peace and understanding.

"This is more than a career guide," said author Russell Johnson, a 25-year travel industry veteran. "It is your basic Tourism 101 at a fraction of the cost of a textbook." ((Comments on this story may be sent to newsdesk@closeupmedia.com))
