AliPay to Work with MOR to Launch Online Ticket Service

BEIJING, Mar 20, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- AliPay may work with the MOR (Ministry of Railways) to launched related online ticket selling service.

Board chairman of Alibaba Group was rumored on March 19 to have visited the MOR and have finally decided something with the authority. Source indicated that relevant business would be launched in the second half of this year.

AliPay stated that it had accumulated much experience in online payment, and was capable of handling tens of millions transactions per day. The third-party payment operator stated that it wished to help the MOR and the majority of people better realize online ticket selling and purchasing.

The MOR for the first time established 12306.cn online booking system during the passenger transport of the Spring Festival of 2012. 0.902% of the global Internet users have visited the website upon its establishment for just a few days, with daily click volume reaching 1 billion person times. The day January 9 alone saw the click volume surpass 1.4 billion. Affected by the fact that large numbers of people visited the website, 12306.cn was on the verge of crash for several times. Some passengers were confronted with the problem of slow page refresh and failed purchase of tickets.

12306.cn only allows online bank payment rather than third-party payment at present.
